Morlet - Coeur De Vallee 2009 (750ml)
Morlet Description
Few vineyard sites truly have a strong and unique personality. The famous Beckstoffer To-Kalon vineyard lies on the Oakville bench, in the Napa Valley. Planted on this prime location, the French varietal Cabernet Sauvignon has become the flagship of this region, and has brought her a worldwide recognition. We named this wine “Coeur de Vallée” to honor both this unique site and its wonderful companion, Cabernet Sauvignon. Handcrafted by using classical winemaking techniques, this wine represents the vibrant heart of a very special place.
Deep purple. Intense and complex bouquet of red, black and blue berries intermixed with notes of cassis, Quesch plum, blond tobacco and a hint of black pepper. Full bodied, the palate is reminiscent of the nose, with a creamy texture and beautiful depth. The silky tannins and complex aromas create a harmonious ensemble, leading to a very long and smooth finish. This early charming, generous and collectible wine is particularly representative of this unique vineyard site. Coeur de Vallee features the interaction of the clayish yet well-drained gravelly volcanic soil, the site’s micro-climate and the low-interventionistic Morlet winemaking approach.

Drinking window: 2014 - 2024
The 2009 Coeur de Vallee caresses the palate with dark plums, dark cherries, spices licorice and tobacco. The 2009 shows gorgeous mid-palate fleshiness and tons of character from the presence of 24% Cabernet Franc in the blend. Waves of fruit gain volume through to the structured elegant finish.

Rich, full and extracted, delivering dense dried currant, blackberry, tar, licorice and mocha flavors. Impeccably balanced, ending with ripe, fine-grained tannins that give the flavors traction. Best from 2014 through 2029.
